Beauty and the beast inspired costumes

The twins are on a beauty and beast kick right now.  A sweet relief from the frozen kick that just past and I'm sure will soon be back.  For Halloween I definitely didn't want to do frozen because everyone is doing it this year.  I decided to go with their movie of the moment instead.  I am so glad I did.  They received so many compliments on the costumes.  Twins are so much fun to dress up because you can coordinate them :-)
For H's Belle's dress I was testing an awesome pattern from Bellamie Boo Couture.  The pattern is the princess dress collection.  Its a sweet deal and comes with a few different princesses designs.  Some are Anna, Cinderella, and of course Belle.  It was a very fast sew up and it has great results. Not only does it have multiple designs in a pattern there is a shirring option and a button closure option for the back.  H was so excited when it was finished and wanted to wear it right away.  She also knew exactly what princess it was.  She screamed beauty and beast!

For K's beast outfit I used the tutorial from Peek a boos blog as a solid starting point and ran from there.  The vest, mittens, slippers, hat,  and suit jacket is Peek a boos patterns.  For the slippers he has shoes underneath them so I measured his shoes size when I made them.  His vest I used bias tape for the arm holes and all around it so it was a very fast sew.  His suit jacket I used gold rick rack for the trim all around, added tails to the back, and shortened the front and angled it as the tutorial suggested.  I also added a few buttons that matched his little tie I made using the tutorial.

For K's pants I was testing for Pollywoggles. The pants are Finn and Riley, and just like the Belle dress I did, is a super sweet deal.  The pants comes with loads of options.  This pattern has 3 lengths included.  It has a full elastic waist and a flat front option.  Oh, let me tell you about the cuff options!  There are 3 of those also.  A regular hem, a cuff, and a ruffle option.  There are so many things you can make with this one pattern.  I love it.  I really don't see many more patterns for bottoms being bought because of this one pattern :-)

It bummed me out that it was super cold on Halloween.  We got about a block into trick or treating and called it quits.  I'm super surprised they didn't blow from all the cold wind we had.  I almost lost an umbrella from the wind, lol.  Luckily they went trick or treating a couple days before Halloween with their nursery school and had a blast.

My drastic blog move

I've decided to switch blogging sites.  This has been an on going thing I've been thinking about for the past few months.  The issue that has stopped me has been the work over the last almost year  I have on the old site.  I know I can transfer all it over here but that would take a long time.  What I figured I would do it leave it up and occasionally link to it when I need to and also include the link on here.  Unfortunately my blog writing isn't as caught up as I would like it to be because of their server.  I was never able to log into my account for days.  I would get "time out errors" almost 80% of the time I tried signing into my account.  So it's time to cut ties with it and try a new a new blog site.  I'm hoping this one works out better :-)

If you are interested in seeing past 2Bugaloos post please visit www.2bugaloos.blog.com.  I'm not sure how long I'll keep it up or if I'll even take it down. It's all still up in the air right now.  I just need somewhere I can feel when I want to write I can write.  I need somewhere I can keep showing my travels through sewing and creating.
